Update 11/11/11 we have reached our final total of £10,300 well done to everyone concerned and a massive thank you to anyone who has donated. The event took place on 15th and 16th June, 2011 at Dewsbury District Golf Club.
Hopefully like the Race for Life this will be an annual event, an event that every golf club in the country could take part in and raise money for a great cause.
Hopefully in the future Cancer will be detected as early as possible which in turn would give the person a better chance of recovery
releaving the patient, their family and friends of the stress and worry that this illness brings.
The aftermath of loosing a loved one is a terrible tragedy especially if they are relatively young, so lets support Cancer Research UK and
help to develop the tests that detect these cancers when they start. How good would it be to have a simple test to detect any type of cancer and put into place regular checkups at our G.Ps?
Eventually the scientist may find out what actually causes cancer, whether you have it in your genetic makeup or peoples lifestyles trigger this nasty disease.
The Golfathon is to combine the love for our sport with raising money for a fantastic cause.
A little midsummer madness of trying to play Golf for 24 hours certainly makes you feel good.
We have been in training for quite a while now. You loose a few pounds and your well being improves.
